OBC Transeuropa supports the humanitarian and nonviolent mission of the Global Sumud Flotilla, denounces the genocide we are witnessing in Gaza and Italy’s unacceptable complicity, and firmly calls for an end to the siege and, more generally, the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

In light of the dramatic late-breaking news, OBCT calls for the immediate release of the crews of the Global Sumud Flotilla and the journalists who accompanied them. We reiterate our call to ensure the safety of Palestinian journalists and access to Gaza for all media outlets that have been excluded to date.

We join the Global Sumud Flotilla as a “ground crew” and, by participating in today’s strike, we once again emphasise that – as Sarajevo activist Boris Vitlačil wrote on our website – “the flotilla is not the end, but the means to wake up the world”.

Finally, we demand that international law be respected as an indispensable tool for achieving a just peace. As OBCT scientific director Luisa Chiodi wrote in her editorial From Srebrenica to Gaza, from genocide to genocide, we denounce “the dehumanisation of some that heralds the destruction of humanity as a whole”.
