Jobs automated away, trust in information undermined, copyright in existential peril… AI is sweeping the globe, and so far it is inspiring at least as much anxiety as hope. So how will AI affect work in general and the media in particular? What risks and opportunities does it present for democracy and the press? The founders and employees of US tech giants have themselves been sounding the alarm in recent weeks about the risks – how should we discern fact from speculation? And, above all, what kind of regulation – particularly at European level – might foster reliable journalism that is fairly remunerated?
We’ll be discussing these questions with journalists Elena Sánchez Nicolás, editor-in-chief of EUObserver, and Alberto Puliafito, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Slow News and of the Slow Journalist substack, on Tuesday 6 October 2026 at 12:00 CEST.
