PRESILIENT is a cross-regional research and training network dedicated to exploring informal economies in the Global South. Instead of treating informality as a residual or problematic sector, the project approaches it as a central dimension of livelihoods and economic organisation for a large share of the world’s population. Through collaborative research conducted in 15 countries across Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, the network investigates how informal practices emerge within specific historical and socio-political contexts. Particular attention is given to the ways communities develop strategies of resilience in conditions marked by inequality, precarity and limited institutional support. By combining academic and non-academic expertise and supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the PRESILIENT project aims to foster empirically grounded understandings of informal economies and their role in shaping economic life.
