The photography exhibition “Sarajevo 1992–1996 – The Longest Siege” opens in Zagreb

On Tuesday, 5 May, the photography exhibition “Sarajevo 1992–1996 – The Longest Siege” by Mario Boccia opened at the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb. On Wednesday, 6 May, the photographer took citizens on a guided tour of his most significant photographs.
More than a hundred people attended the opening of the exhibition “Sarajevo 1992–1996 – The Longest Siege”, featuring photographs by Mario Boccia, on 5 May at the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb. Curated by the Italian War History Museum and Osservatorio Balcani Caucaso Transeuropa in 2022, the exhibition was presented in Belgrade between late 2025 and early 2026 and will travel to Sarajevo by the end of 2026.
In Zagreb, the exhibition will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute until 30 June . Three events are planned in conjunction with the exhibition:
20 May, 6:00 PM – Sarajevo, thirty years later: how do you build trust?
10 June, 7:00 PM – Crime Scene: The Ethics of War Journalism
15 June, 6:00 PM – From Trauma to Collective Memory: The Role of Public Space
The exhibition was organised as part of the “Trancityons” project, co-financed by the European Union.
