Debate and raising awareness on violations of press freedom in 11 countries have been the aims of the 12 European partners engaged until last January in the project "Safety Net for European Journalists", led by OBC and co­funded by the European Union and the Autonomous Province of Trento.

On January 28th we presented the closing event at the European Parliament during the seminar entitled "Je suis Charlie. Media Freedom in the EU and South­Eastern Europe". All audio-files of the speeches can be found here .

OBC in the Economist

"Eastern approaches", blog by Tim Judah on the web pages of The Economist, has just published a videoclip by OBC journalist Davide Sighele titled "Albania: Oil". A multimedia production based on fascinating archive documents that come from the 'Franco Tagliarini Archive'. "It is another great insight into Albania's past. The Osservatorio is an excellent resource for Balkan and Caucasus affairs", writes Tim Judah.

New! Paolo Martino, journalist of Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso, won the Italian section of the Eu Journalist Award - Together against discrimination, with his reportage "Moussa Khan". Mussa Khan is a muhajir, a refugee, seeking a safe place to live. His story is one of many of young Afghans trying to reach Europe to ask for asylum.
