Every year hundreds of journalists, bloggers, activists, human rights defenders are victims of SLAPPs in Italy, in Europe, all over the world. SLAPPs, strategic lawsuits against public participation are known in Italy as a democratic emergency. The 6th edition of the journalism festival www.imbavagliati.it presents the video as part of a national and international campaign against vexatious lawsuits.
This video collects a mosaic of voices: journalists from Italy like Federica Angeli, Antonella Napoli, Nello Trocchia, the Austrian author Alexander Schiebel, the German activist Karl Bär from Munich, Charlie Holt Greenpeace legal counsel, the lawyer Nicola Canestrini, Sarah Clarke of Article 19 and the President of the Italian Journalists Union Giuseppe Giulietti.
