Programming for cars in Osijek

11/12/2025, Giovanni Vale Osijek

A journey inside the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technologies (FERIT), where a European project has funded the creation of a laboratory and a programming course for the automotive industry. This is good news for companies like TTTechAuto, which employ recent local graduates

Between 2017 and 2019, together with the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN) in Novi Sad, FERIT carried out a European project (funded by Interreg – IPA CBC Croatia Serbia) to modernize technology laboratories and develop a new curriculum related to automotive IT.

Thanks to miniature models, equipped with the same motherboards used in cars, students learn to program the interface between the driver and the car, which manages sensors, cameras, lights, brakes, and even the interior infotainment system.

These skills prove invaluable to those subsequently hired by companies like TTTechAuto (founded by FTN and FERIT). Over a hundred FERIT alumni now work here, where software is tested before being installed on cars.
