Of the 42 journalists against whom detention warrant has been issued within scope of the probe launched as to coup attempt, Bülent Mumay has been taken into custody.Mumay has stated that he would give a statement to the prosecution today (July 27) at 10 a.m., but he has been detained in his house and brought to the Gayrettepe Police Department at night hours.

The journalist is being waited to give his statement to the prosecution today.

Bülent Mumay has stated on Twitter that the only organisation of which he has been a member is Journalists Association of Turkey and shared his membership card.

Bülent Mumay was born in 1977 in Siirt. He graduated from İstanbul University Department of Sociology and he took his master's degree with his “internet journalism” themed thesis at the same university. He is studying for doctorate in “journalism.”

He is the Digital Media Group Coordinator of Hürriyet daily/ Hürriyet Executive Committee member, editorial coordinator of Radikal daily, web coordinator of Hürriyet, Overseas Broadcast Director. He is teaching digital journalism at Kadir Has University.

Mumay, has been granted the South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO) subsidiary to International Press Institute (IPI), SEEMO Civil Rights Award for his journalism in Gezi resistance.(EA/UA)
